RNLI 200 Club Cheque Presentation

IMG_0769

On Saturday 24th April we had a cheque presentation from us to the Maldon Branch of the RNLI in respect of last year’s total funds raised through our 200 Club which amounted to £5,020.

If you head to our Facebook page you will be able to see a much appreciated article published about the presentation in INYOURAREA.COM

Lovely to see so many people on lock side supporting this. It was an honour to have the West Mersea Lifeboat crew attend for what was their first PR function of the year! We also drew the weekly draws for April and the results are as follows, with each winning £50

No. 151 Janice and John Frost

No. 157 Jacqueline Yorston

No. 101 Steven Wood

No. 121 Lew Schnurr

Congratulations everyone and thanks for your continued support.

200 2020 Rejoin letter

We have now reached 200 members, which is fantastic news. This means we will be able to raise more funds for the RNLI and also pay out the maximum benefit to our members – a win win situation that we have been striving for since 2012!

Thanks again to one and all for your support. If you have missed out on becoming a member, that’s a shame, but keep looking on our Facebook page to see if any numbers become available.

The Oars and Paws Fun Dog Show 2020 update

IMG_6260

Some of you may have been wondering what has happened to our fun dog show this year and it probably won’t come as a surprise to realise that due to the current madness in the world caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s show has very sadly had to be cancelled.

We’re extremely disappointed to not go ahead, but it just wouldn’t have been practicable or safe for all those concerned in the running of it and for those to attend. It would also have been irresponsible of us to expect everyone, in whatever capacity, to support us at this time.

It is our intention, conditions being favourable and safe, to hold the show next September 2021. We shall keep you updated in good time throughout the coming months and hopefully see you then!

In the meantime, stay safe and fingers crossed that the madness subsides and we can resume a life which somehow reflects what we have enjoyed previously!

What do you want to do ?

Maldon Little Ship Sponsored Row December 2019

Rule Britannia, Britannia Waives the Rules….

We had a fantastic day on Saturday 28th December at the annual sponsored row for the RNLI organised by John Rodgers of the Maldon Little Ship Club (mlsc.org.uk).

It wasn’t too cold and very calm water. It was great to see the event so well attended and supported. This year the BBC sent a camera man and reporter and there was a very brief mention on Look East. As usual, we made a loud and colourful entrance! This year’s theme was Britannia and her take on BREXIT!!!

We are extremely proud to have retained the Panther Trophy for the most money raised by a single boat, virtually all thanks to the supporters of the 200 Club we run, raising funds for the Maldon branch of the RNLI. This year we raised over £4,500.

We were the first multiple ladies rowing boat home and third in the fancy dress.

Thank you everyone, again and a Happy New Year to you from Annette, Brenda, Chrys, Jill and Marion

Oars and Paws Fun Dog Show 2019 – Update

Free entry to show with £1.50 entry per class for each dog. We are pleased to announce that one of our chosen charities to benefit from the show is the Cinnamon Trust. This is a national charity, which also operates locally, for elderly people (aged 60 and over), the terminally ill and their pets. Their primary aim is to help keep people and their pets together. This can include dog walking and pet care and short term fostering. They also provide long term care for pets whose owners have died or moved into residential accommodation which will not accept pets. Please look at their website for more details, cinnamon.org.uk.

Thank you 2018 (please click link)

What a fantastic day! Thank you to everyone who supported our 15th annual fun dog show last month including spectators, competitors, stewards, helpers and The Judges! It seems a distant memory now. It was a great day with warm sunshine and blue skies and lots of happy dogs!

We had 70 dogs participate in 200 entries for the 9 classes. As usual, the clear round agility was very popular with all child handlers receiving a rosette.

The canine with the most appealing eyes and the dog the judges would want to take home being the favourite classes with 38 and 36 entries respectively. The judges had such a hard task!
