Meet the Greyhounds
Today, 4th October, we had the welcome invitation to visit Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue a registered charity based in Little Totham, near Maldon, Essex, the benefactors of our scaled down fun dog show, held last month. We were able to meet the lovely Hannah and had great pleasure in presenting her with the £483 raised from the show together with some other donations! We also had the opportunity to meet some of the gorgeous greyhounds who are waiting to be re-homed.
It was a lovely morning and quite busy, arriving as one of the dogs was just leaving, having just been adopted, then a group of dogs returned from their walk with their handlers.
We normally raise more money from our fun dog shows, but this year due to early days of the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions we decided to play safe and keep numbers low by promoting it almost exclusively within our village. We hope that next year the world may have opened up again and we can have a slightly larger show. To this end we intend to support Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue again.
Save the date of Saturday 17th September 2022!
Huge thank you to everyone who supported our show this year!

Thank you 2018 (please click link)
What a fantastic day! Thank you to everyone who supported our 15th annual fun dog show last month including spectators, competitors, stewards, helpers and The Judges! It seems a distant memory now. It was a great day with warm sunshine and blue skies and lots of happy dogs!
We had 70 dogs participate in 200 entries for the 9 classes. As usual, the clear round agility was very popular with all child handlers receiving a rosette.
The canine with the most appealing eyes and the dog the judges would want to take home being the favourite classes with 38 and 36 entries respectively. The judges had such a hard task!
Best in Show – Skye
Our Best in Show was Skye with Tannah Harrington and Reserve Champion was Bella with Phoebe Dewes. The Best Partnership was awarded to The Marshalls with their dogs Matty and Henry. Congratulations to you all!

The total raised from the show was a massive £965, helped along with some very generous donations. A huge heartfelt THANK YOU. This money will be shared between the Sea Change Sailing Trust and towards at least one defibrillator for our village, Heybridge Basin.

‘Strictly’ before the race
Thanks to everyone who came along to Maldon Hythe Quay on Sunday 27th December to support this event and to cheer us on.
Fortunately, the strong winds we had been experiencing recently, abated for the race and it was a fairly smooth course. There was a great atmosphere being with so many rowing boats, kayaks, gigs and a paddle board on the water and to see so many spectators along the quay.
As usual we made a colourful splash with our ‘Strictly’ theme. Thanks to the support from the members of our RNLI 200 Club we handed over £3,750 and won the trophy for the boat which raised the most sponsorship. We were the first women’s multiple crew to finish and were runners’ up in the fancy dress competition.
It was heartening to see so many people supporting this race and we’d like to thank John and Diana Rogers from the Maldon Little Ship Club for organising it and all those who helped make the event so successful.
We’re also grateful to the West Mersea lifeboat crew who came along in ‘Just George’. We couldn’t resist the invitation to pose on the life boat – after all we did help to fund it!
